The Ombudsman for Justice (JO) makes the criticism after investigating a report from a man in Malmö who had to wait about two years for a ruling after he appealed the p-fines he received at one time.

A man in Småland JO recently notified the police after he was told that it would take up to a year and a half before his traffic misdemeanor case could be tried.

JO considers that the long processing times are very worrying and does not consider them to be exceptions, but rather is a rule for the moment in the police region south.

In its response to the JO, the police write that in the region's legal department, they have almost two years of processing time and that they have hired temporary staff to shorten the processing times, and that they have also been assisted in that work by the law department in the police region West.
