It is noted that in January - December 2019, the number of corruption-related crimes increased by 1.6% (30991) in Russia. Their specific weight in the mass of all identified acts for the reporting period amounted to 1.5%.

“In general, the number of acts provided for in article 290 of the Criminal Code of Russia (receiving a bribe) increased by 14% (from 3499 to 3988),” the report says.

It is specified that the growth was recorded, in particular, in Adygea, Khabarovsk Territory and Belgorod Region. Moreover, a decrease is noted in Khakassia, the Nenets Autonomous Okrug and the Kemerovo Region.

“Over the past period, the number of crimes stipulated by article 291 of the Criminal Code of Russia (bribery) in the Russian Federation increased by 21.5% (from 2612 to 3174),” the report said.

Earlier, Mikhail Sharov, the head of the Kanavinsky district of Nizhny Novgorod, and his deputy, Eduard Tsvetkov, were detained on suspicion of receiving a bribe in the amount of 150 thousand rubles from a local resident.

In January, the head of the district was arrested in the Krasnoyarsk Territory on charges of receiving a large bribe.

At the end of November 2019, URA.RU reported that the court sent under house arrest the ex-head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Tyumen region, accused of receiving a bribe on an especially large scale.
