Pretext: go to the toilet
The procedure is always the same. "Two individuals come to the victim's home to sell him a calendar," say the gendarmes of the Somme. While the discussion is underway, one of them pretends to go to the toilet to finally search the rooms of the house. They then leave the premises with the person's savings or any other valuables. "
A resident was thus robbed of 500 euros in cash, kept in the room. An investigation is opened into each of the reported cases.
The gendarmerie warns the inhabitants of the Somme against these thefts by ruse. She advises “to ask the seller for his professional card”, “not to let a stranger in” and “to report any suspicious or insistent behavior to 17”.
