Oriol Junqueras has taken advantage of his appearance in the Parliament - authorized by the penitentiary services of the Generalitat - to threaten the State again with the holding of a unilateral referendum of self-determination.

"We will again exercise our right to a referendum of self-determination. Many have been done without the consent of the State," said the president of ERC in the commission of investigation of article 155 . "We are not afraid, we have never had it. And less now. Jail is another step on the road to freedom," Junqueras warned weeks after the dialogue table with the Government was convened.

The top ERC leader also had a message for JxCat in the twilight of the Catalan legislature: "More independentistas than us there is no one."

The Parliament will also host today the appearance of Jordi Turull , Josep Rull , Raül Romeva , Joaquim Forn and Dolors Bassa , former councilors of the Government convicted of organizing the illegal referendum of 2017. The prisoners have been received upon arrival at the Catalan Chamber by the President of the Parliament, Roger Torrent, and have also been applauded by the independence deputies.

During their appearance in the Catalan chamber, Junqueras and the former councilors are being guarded by the Mossos d'Esquadra , and, once the declarations are finished, they will return to their respective prisons in police custody. It will happen late in the afternoon, as it is expected that the appearances will last several hours.

For this exceptional appearance, the Catalan regional police have shielded access to the Catalan chamber.
