On Tuesday, inspectors from the Swedish Work Environment Authority were on site at the Akademiska hospital in Uppsala to collect information regarding the IT systems for surgical planning. The safety ombudsman has made a report and raised alarm that there are deficiencies in the computer systems and believes that this threatens patient safety.

- We have talked to safety representatives and employers' representatives. The safety representatives have had to describe the deficiencies in the systems that they experience and what effects it has on the work environment and the employer has described what they have done about it and what they will do in the future, says Lena Sundstedt, work environment inspector at the Swedish Work Environment Authority.

The Swedish Work Environment Authority expects to make a decision within a few weeks as to whether the Academic Hospital needs further action or not.
