Two Algerian pilots were killed in the fall of a military plane in the wilaya of Oum El Bouaghi, east of the capital, Algiers. President Abdel Majid Taboun sent his condolences to the families of the pilots.

According to news reports, the plane crashed in the town of Ain Al-Zaitoun, in the state of Umm Al-Baqi, and that the crew consisting of two soldiers, the first with the rank of lieutenant colonel and the other with the rank of first lieutenant, were killed in the accident.

An-Nahar newspaper quoted on its website, local sources, that the plane was Russian-made "Sukhoi Su-30".

The sources pointed out that the sound of the explosion and the complete burning of the plane caused panic among the residents of the region.

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, Algerian President Abdel Majid Taboun wrote on Twitter saying, "I offer my condolences to myself and my family, the pilots, the victim of the tragic accident of the fall of the training military plane in Oum El Bouaghi."
