  • Michou celebrated his 88th birthday on June 18, surrounded by his friends.
  • He was injured a few days ago "while wearing his fishnet stockings".
  • The "Blue Prince of Montmartre" opened the doors of his legendary cabaret to us.

"I'm sorry, I can't move, I hurt myself a few days ago while wearing my fishnet stockings," says Michou at the microphone in his famous cabaret at 80 rue des Martyrs (18th arrondissement). "Happy birthday Michou. We love you Michou ", respond the pensioners of Montmartre invited as every month by the" Blue Prince "to a lunch-show. As he celebrated his 88th birthday on June 18, 20 Minutes spent this Thursday talking with him about love, life, parties, champagne and electric scooters.

You celebrated your 88th birthday in your cabaret on June 18, was it a great celebration?

I had an amazing birthday. I was very moved by the praise people gave me. There were Jean-Paul Belmondo, Nana Mouskouri, Sandrine Bonnaire. It was a nice party. I had to slow down the champagne a bit but hey ... I'm not going to drink water. Champagne is my elixir. I would not have stayed so young without.

"For us freedom is like love, it is priceless", sing yourself in Les Fricoteuses . Would you say that you have been free and in love in your lifetime?

I was more in love than free.

Paris is still a party, do you think?

Of course. I live in a village in Paris called Montmartre. When I arrived in the capital, at Gare du Nord, I went up the rue de Dunkerque towards my village, which I have not left. Montmartre has changed, as I have, and I will stay there forever.

In 1969, you said during an interview "In Montmartre, we don't have fun anymore. To bring people in, you need something funny and spicy. I think we succeeded. ” 50 years later, do you still think so?

At the time I created a somewhat special concept with three friends. We had fun in disguise. And it rained. It pleased Paris.

Each month, you invite lunch to elderly and isolated people in the neighborhood, like today. Is it important to you?

Every month, since always, I invite people of the old age of Montmartre. It is important to me because I was raised by my grandmother and I loved my grandmother. That's why I want to invite all the grandmothers to Michou's.

"From the city of Paris, I'm a bit of a dandy, in all the districts I have friends", sing yourself in the song "Signé Michou". Who is your greatest friend?

Nana Mouskouri, who was by my side for my birthday. It moved me a lot. There is also Anny Duperey, who signed the preface to my book.

All Parisians have an opinion on self-service electric scooters. What do you think?

It is surely very good for young people but I find it monstrous. They are all the time on the sidewalks.

What will become of Chez Michou after Michou?

As I say in my book, "I want to put a little plaque with my name on the front of the cabaret. People who pass in the street will say: it was Michou's here ”.
