Britain unveiled today, Sunday, a new coin worth 50 pence, which was specially made on the occasion of secession from the European Union, "Brexit" bearing the words "peace, prosperity and friendship with all nations" and the date of exit corresponding to January 31, 2020.

The government stated that about three million pieces of metal would be distributed from banks, post offices and stores starting on Friday, with another seven million to be distributed later in the year.

"The separation from the European Union is a milestone in our history, and this currency marks the beginning of this new chapter," Finance Minister Sajid Javed said during the presentation of the first batch of currencies.

After more than three years of fierce debate over the method and timing of the disengagement, Britain will withdraw from the bloc at 2300 GMT on Friday.
