Holmsjön, five miles outside Sundsvall, is a relatively large lake, which is rarely possible to go at the end of January. The snow-free winters have made it possible to ride on many ice which is otherwise snow-covered.
The lack of ice in the south means that the sea ice in Västernorrland also attracts long-distance ice skating enthusiasts.
