“We express our deepest condolences to the families of those who died as a result of the terrible earthquake in Elazig yesterday, and we wish a speedy recovery to the injured and recovery of the affected areas of Turkey,” the message reads on the Foreign Ministry’s Twitter page.

An earthquake of magnitude 6.8 occurred in the eastern province of Turkey, Elazig in the evening of January 24 and was felt throughout the country. After the earthquake, 35 tremors with a magnitude of 2.7 to 5.4 were recorded.

According to the latest data, 29 people were killed as a result of the earthquake.
