January 24, 2020About the privacy risks posed by Tik Tok, the social network that allows you to create and share audio, video and images, used by millions of users, mostly very young, the Italian Privacy Guarantor asked the European Protection Committee of personal data (Edpb), which brings together all the Union's privacy authorities, to activate a specific task force.
In the letter sent to the Committee, the President of the Guarantor Authority, Antonello Soro, underlines how some reports have already been received to the Italian Authority regarding the possible vulnerabilities that this smartphone app presents, as well as other Authorities, such as the English ICO and the American FTC, have already proceeded to initiate autonomous investigations.
The Italian Guarantor therefore signals to the other European partners the need to proceed in a strong and coordinated manner, also in consideration of the delicacy and relevance of this type of platform, aimed above all at the younger user groups. President Soro asked that the matter be brought to the attention of the next plenary meeting, to be held in Brussels on 28-29 February, of the Committee (EDPB) which brings together all the European Privacy Guarantors.
