Philippe Poutou in Bordeaux. Archives. - S. ORTOLA / 20 MINUTES

  • Philippe Poutou launched this Friday the “Bordeaux in struggles” campaign which brings together the citizen collective “Bordeaux Debout” launched by France Insoumise and the NPA Bordeaux.
  • Presenting itself as the meeting of "rebellious protesting forces", the list ruled out any agreement with other political parties in the intervening period.
  • The program, which is currently being drawn up, will, for example, offer free transport and requisition vacant accommodation.

Five members of the future left list "Bordeaux in struggles" were this Friday morning alongside Philippe Poutou at the Utopia cinema to launch the municipal campaign. Among them, students, environmental activists, feminists and a yellow vest mutilated during a demonstration in December 2018. This is Antoine Boudinet, this Bordeaux student who had his hand torn off by a GLI-F4 grenade.

The CGT leader who waged a fierce struggle for the survival of the Ford factory in Blanquefort was appointed a few days ago to head this list born from an agreement between the citizen collective Bordeaux Debout, initiated by France Insoumise , and the new anti-capitalist party (NPA) Bordeaux. To those who would accuse them of breaking up the political landscape on the eve of the municipal elections, Philippe Poutou replies that this list is, on the contrary, proof of their "ability to regroup part of the rebellious protesting forces". Returning all the candidates already declared to the same liberal camp, "Bordeaux in struggles", wants to carry the voice of "those who pay dearly for the crisis" and are invisible.

No alliance between the two towers

Asked about a possible alliance with the ecological camp of Pierre Hurmic in the second round, "Bordeaux in struggles" swept this hypothesis unambiguously. "There will be no negotiations with other lists," says Hugo. If we start it is because we think that fundamentally we can represent people, especially from working class neighborhoods, who would otherwise be abstaining ”. "We recall that Pierre Hurmic participated in co-management, which comes down to a deal for vice-presidencies in exchange for the budget vote, adds Sylvie and that for example he voted to increase the tram ticket while we are in favor of a gratuity ”.

These activists want to embody "real opposition" to the Bordeaux right and castigate a Pierre Hurmic who is not very critical of Alain Juppe. "He said that the record of Juppé was generally good whereas it is his policy which is responsible for the fact that the students cannot find accommodation," points out Elisa.

Determined to distinguish itself from this left which has co-managed, the list promises radical solutions, still being developed, such as free public transport, the requisition of vacant housing and the establishment of municipal boards.
