Regarding Vietnam's coal-fired power plant, which Japan is considering financing, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Mr. Kajiyama said, "I am sincerely aware of the fact that the Minister of the Environment Koizumi said he could not gain understanding from the people and the international community. "And discussed with the relevant ministries and agencies how Japan should contribute to global reduction of greenhouse gases.

Environment Minister Koizumi said on Wednesday that Japanese government and financial institutions are considering financing for Chinese and U.S. companies to build plants for a coal-fired power plant in Vietnam. He raised the problem, saying that he could not gain understanding from society.

Regarding this point, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Kajiyama told reporters after the Cabinet meeting on April 24 that "we must take seriously as the Minister responsible for energy."

He said, "We must talk to relevant ministries and agencies about how Japan will contribute to global reduction of greenhouse gases." He showed his idea to discuss with ministries.
