It was during Wednesday last week, January 15, that a heavy fire broke out at the natural gymnasium in Vreta monastery outside Linköping. A fire that resulted in all dairy cows burning inside. Now it has been over a week since the fire.
- It looks like the site of the site is about the same. There is a lot of activity going on out here in the fire area by removing the remains of the old brown barn and setting up temporary premises such as changing rooms and staff rooms, says Elisabeth Bringer Hallberg, head of the Vreta education center."Has the situation under control"
In just this past week, several question marks have already been resolved, she says.
- We have been able to decide how to deal with the animals we have. 72 heifers managed to catch fire. When the heifers become cows, they must be able to milk. We have arranged this so that we can move our sheep to another room and the cows are allowed to stay in the sheep stall, says Elisabeth Bringer Hallberg.
The plan is then to get started on the new barn as soon as possible. The hope is that it will be completed by 2020, but Elisabeth Bringer Hallberg dares not promise anything.
- It feels like we have the situation under control and we do not think this should negatively affect students' education. We should be able to roll on albeit under a bit more primitive circumstances at school, she says.
