Uppsala students Sweden prize for their recycling invention


A team of four pupils from Fyris School won the victory in the Innovation competition Deca Idea Challenge 2019. - It feels almost unreal that we won, says Emilio Nilsson Navia, one of the participants.

Each year, students around the world are challenged to find innovative ways to use an everyday item and present it in a smart way. The 2019 everyday items were the laces.

The team that won the Swedish competition goes to the Fyris School in Uppsala - and consists of Emilio Nilsson Navia, Pontus Forsmark, Björn Swartling and Erik Werneman. They came up with the idea of ​​reusing a shoelace to a cable tie.

- We sat and brainstormed. Then Emilio came up with the brilliant idea, says Erik Werneman.

Praised by the National Agency for Education

In addition to the Uppsalalaget Sweden Prize and thus qualified for the international competition - the Swedish National Agency for Education will also visit in February. Even they will give a prize to the winning students.
