- It is a clear victory for Girja's Sami village. This means that we have a situation that we have not seen before and that needs to be analyzed, says Anders Iacobaeus, member of the Jägareförbundet Board.
At nine o'clock on Thursday morning, the Supreme Court handed down its verdict: Girja's Sami village has the exclusive right to lease hunting and fishing in the area due to the claim of ancient memory. The Sami village may allow small game hunting and fishing without the consent of the state.
Many members of various Sami villages around the country cheered for the verdict, however, the Jägareförbundet said that the verdict was not the clarity they had hoped for. Anders Iacobaues, a member of the Board of the Jägareförbund, develops how the association thinks in the clip above.
