The battle has been going on for over ten years and today came the verdict - Girja's Sami village got right and now has the exclusive right to lease hunting and fishing in the area.

- Now we know what applies to the issue of these rights. It did not go the way of the state, but I am happy on behalf of the Sami village. I think the process has been even more stressful for them.

The Chancellor of Justice Mari Heidenborg says she has not been able to read the verdict in detail, but that the issues appear to have gone through a lot.

- It seems to be a clear and decisive decision, she says.

In the clip above, she talks about what the verdict can have in the future and for other Sami villages in Sweden.
