Chinese authorities are forcing Ikea to close its department store in Wuhan, one of the company's 30 stores in the country. The roughly 500 employees in Wuhan will retain their salary and not have to work, says Ikea's press contact Jon Egerlid, writes Svenska Dagbladet.

“At IKEA, the safety of our customers and employees is a top priority. Employees in the Wuhan area are urged to follow the authorities' instructions carefully, ”he writes in an email to the newspaper.

It is unclear how long the department store will remain closed, but no employees should have been affected by the virus.
