Pierre-Hugues Herbert (64th in the world) lost on Thursday in the second round of the Australian Open against the Belgian David Goffin (11th) 6-1, 6-4, 4-6, 1-6, 6-3 after a 3h06 twists and turns match.

While he had made up his time and had broken at the start of the fifth set, the French lost his two service games in a row and finally bowed to the end of the suspense.

Goffin, who had to call the doctor at the start of the last set, will face the Russian Andrey Rublev (16th) for a place in the last 16.
