Five years ago Anna and Johan Pensar moved from Stockholm to the small S-shaped island of Löparö, two miles south of Norrtälje. Since the move, the family has grown and with their two children, the family has helped to increase the population on Löparö - a trend break for the islands in Norrtälje.

Now they want to have more families with children to follow.

- Interest is huge, we have 60-70 interest reports. Many families with children, primarily those living in Stockholm, want to move out here, says Johan Pensar.

Sewerage and accessibility are major challenges

On one piece of their land they plan to cut lots and build 28 century-style villas with a bridge from the mainland. But Norrtälje municipality is doubtful of that solution.

- We probably don't think that is realistic in the future. If you are going to build there it will be enough to get by boat, says municipal council Anders Olander (C).

On Wednesday, the family was told that the planning application they had submitted to the municipality of Norrtälje will be on another referral round. Now they hope to be notified in the spring.
