Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani, top scorer in the history of Paris SG but very little used this season, has "strong chances" to join Atlético Madrid, this winter or next summer, estimated his father in a interview with the Spanish chain La Sexta.

"I think there is a good chance that he will go to Atlético", in the January transfer window or "in June", Luis Cavani told the Spanish television channel on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, accusing the team for which his son scored 198 goals to treat him "unfairly".

"If he receives the green light to leave tomorrow and Atlético still wants him, I think he will sign it," added the father of the Uruguayan striker, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

Faced with competition from Kylian Mbappé, Neymar, Mauro Icardi or Angel Di Maria, the striker has participated in only fourteen games this season, for a total of five goals.

Package for the semi-final of the League Cup, Wednesday in Reims, the 32-year-old striker seems nevertheless retained by the leaders of PSG in view of the Champions League.

"Paris leaders do not want to give it up before the C1 ends (for the club, note"), said Luis Cavani on Wednesday.

Qualified for the round of 16 of the flagship competition of European football, the club of the French capital must face Borussia Dortmund on February 18 in Germany and then on March 11 at home.

The words of Luis Cavani confirm the desires for departure already mentioned by Edinson's mother, Berta Gomez.

"He wants to play Atlético, now or this summer," she said in an interview with the newspaper AS.

Sunday, the sports director of PSG Leonardo meanwhile admitted that Cavani had "asked to leave" this winter at the Colchoneros.
