His jealousy could have led to an even more dramatic outcome. Tuesday, a young man of 21 years was sentenced to three years in prison, including 18 months suspended, before the criminal court of Grenoble, for setting fire to one of his friends on June 5, 2017 in Meylan (Isère ).

On the day of the incident, the accused caught his ex-girlfriend kissing one of his friends. Mad with rage, he then went to his friend's house to burn down his vehicle. On the spot, a third young man, friend of the two boys, had tried to intervene to prevent the vehicle from igniting. He was then sprayed with petrol, reports Le Dauphiné. The defendant then took a lighter, then set fire to his boyfriend, who finally got out only with a few burns by managing to take off his burning shorts.

While the victim had taken refuge in a house, the accused continued his task and set fire to his rival's vehicle. The man, who admitted the facts to the court and was previously unknown to the judicial services, is prohibited from contacting his victims.
