The French podium contender Kévin Aymoz was eliminated after the short program and will not skate the free program at the European Figure Skating Championships on Wednesday in Graz (Austria).

Aymoz (22) passed completely by, with two falls and a third jump, the one at the initiative of the suit, aborted. He was only 26th with 64.40 points. Only the first 24 are qualified for the free program.

The disillusionment is immense for Aymoz, which had signed its first Grand Prix podiums this season, the main circuit of the first half of winter, in Grenoble and then in Japan.

He qualified for the first time for his prestigious final and climbed on the third step of the podium in early December, alongside the two star skaters of the moment, the American Nathan Chen and the Japanese Yuzuru Hanyu.

The skater from Isère, who has been training for almost three years in Florida, under the direction of John Zimmerman and Silvia Fontana, presented himself with the best total score of the entry season.

The other Frenchman entered in the men's competition, Adam Siao Him Fa, took him the last qualifying place (65.21 pts).

After the short program, the Czech Michal Brezina takes the lead (89.77 pts), ahead of the Russians Dmitri Aliev (88.45 pts) and Artur Danielian (84.63 pts).
