The old match factory has carried sulfur and phosphorus found beneath the ground.

- When it reacts with the air, it can cause sparks, smoke and smaller explosions. Now it is to be excavated and sealed away safely supervised by the rescue service, says Gustav Hultegård in a press release, firefighter at the rescue service.

Mixing material in the field

Detectum, together with Skanska, has established that these are almost five cubic meters of mixed material containing phosphorus and sulfur, which must now be excavated and transported away in order for the construction of the Höghushotellet to continue.

Transported away

The mixing material will be placed in containers of water and sand and then transported to a receiving facility.

The rescue service in Jönköping Municipality will help to escort the trucks that are driving away with containers of the material excavated from the ground.
