For several months, the wolf has torn down reindeer in several of the northern and western Sami villages and most recently Svaipa and Mausjaur Sami villages have had the greatest problems.

Nature conservationists from the county administrative board were able to track the wolf on Wednesday and killed it from a helicopter.

"The only way out"

The worthy wolf had only been in Sweden less than four months since the first observation, which means that it could not be moved because of the quarantine period which is exactly four months.

- We are prepared for this to be debated, but the overall assessment by both the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and us on the county administrative board means that this was the only way out and I hope that there will now be peace and quiet in the Sami villages and reindeer herds, says Björn Jonsson .
