- We take a very serious look at the incident, and have put in extra resources to meet the students' questions and create security, says Ingela Hamlin, head of primary school in Uppsala municipality.

According to Ingela Hamlin, the incident occurred during lesson time. A few students became witnesses and staff called police who arrested the boys.

- Then the school made sure to tell all the students what had happened as quickly as possible to avoid spreading rumors and creating calm. After that, the parents were informed as soon as possible, says Ingela Hamlin.

Parent: "Inadequate information"

SVT News Uppsala has talked to a parent who lives near the school, and who is critical of how the information from the school is handled.

- I was out and would throw garbage at 10 o'clock and saw several police cars circulating around the school, which made me very worried.

The parent, who himself went to the school for information, asks, among other things, that the school did not evacuate the students.

- Although the gun was not sliding, no one could tell if they were more people who had weapons at the school. I also feel that the information I received as a parent felt inadequate. Above all, I feel that the school does not have an action plan for such situations, which is irresponsible as it is now not uncommon for this to happen in schools.

Primary school principal: "The school has acted right"

The elementary school principal understands that the incident caused concern for parents.

- I have a full understanding that they were worried. But our primary focus in the emergency situation was to take care of the students and assist the police in their work. The parents were then informed.

Do you have an action plan for how the school will handle such an incident?

- Yes, we have guidelines to deal with and I believe that the school and the principal have acted quite right around the situation, says Ingela Hamlin.

The two boys turned off

The incident happened at 9am, and not until around lunch did the headmaster send out information to the students' parents. In the afternoon, another email was sent out.

There, the principal writes, among other things, that the students will be given the opportunity to talk about what happened during Thursday's first lesson, and that extra adults will secure themselves in the school's corridors.

The message also states that the two students who were involved in the incident are suspended from school so far.
