WhatsApp announced that it will stop working on a group of smart phones running Android and iOS, as of the first of next month (February).

The affected people will not be able to use their existing accounts, and they will lose their conversations if they do not save their chat history before the deadline.

WhatsApp - owned by Facebook - warned users against the expected change for months, but the new procedure will go into effect from the first of the beginning of next month.

The new ban indicates that all iPhones, which run any program older than "iOS 8" /, will not be able to access WhatsApp, and there will be a similar problem for Android phone users as well.

According to the latest statistics from Google, there are still a lot of phones that use older versions of their operating system, and there may be a need to update up to 7.5 million devices, to continue using the messaging app.

Causes and tips
Explaining the reasons for the latest ban, WhatsApp said, "As we look forward to the next seven years in our journey, (we) want to focus our efforts on mobile platforms, which are used by the vast majority of people."

He continued, "Although these devices were an important part of our story, they do not provide the capabilities we need to expand the features of our application in the future."

"This was a difficult decision for us, but it is the right decision to give people a better way to keep in touch with friends, family and loved ones using WhatsApp," he stressed.

WhatsApp recommended users of an affected mobile device, update to continue using WhatsApp.

The application will stop working on Android versions 2.3.7 and earlier, in addition to iPhone devices that use iOS 7 and earlier, on February 1.

Unfortunately, if you own any of the mentioned devices, you will need to purchase a new phone to continue using WhatsApp.

You can save the current chats, by going to WhatsApp, open the chat you want to save and click on "Three Points" in the upper right of the chat screen, then click more and then export the chat.
