He said this on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Kuznetsov noted that unlike pin codes and CVC codes, it is easier to get plastic card numbers due to the careless attitude of people to their personal data.

“Even if you take a picture of your card and send it to someone, it’s basically a leak. With the same success, you can throw a wallet with your salary into the bin, ”RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Another way to gain access to information, according to Kuznetsov, are methods of social engineering.

“As a rule, fraudsters have a minimal set of data about alleged customers - to carry out an attack they only need the victim's last name, first name, middle name and telephone number. This information is easy to get today, but it is enough for the criminal to start a conversation, ”he said.

Earlier, Roskachestvo experts gave advice on preventing ATM fraud. They recalled that scammers began to install readers in the ATMs - skimmers in the form of an overlay on the card reader, as well as an on-board keyboard that remembers the PIN code that is being entered. In this regard, the Center for Digital Expertise of Roskachestvo recommends that Russians use only ATMs inside banks, which, as a rule, are not used by fraudsters, since they are in the field of view of employees of a financial institution. In addition, you should insert the card into the ATM only if the screen saver of the bank is presented on the screen, and cover the keyboard with your hand when entering the PIN code.

Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma’s financial market committee, as reported by the FAN, assessed the situation with ATM fraud in Russia.
