Saab's production of the new school aircraft has started

- It's been just over a year since Saab signed the contract, and now we start production. This is possible thanks to a good cooperation between Saab and Boeing. We at Saab are proud to develop and manufacture the T-7A for the US Air Force, "said Jonas Hjelm, head of Saab's Aeronautics business area, in a statement.

It is the rear of the school aircraft that Saab develops and produces. Seven units are now being manufactured in Linköping for later delivery for final assembly at Boeing's facility in St. Louis, USA.

The order from the US Air Force applies to 351 school aircraft and the deal is worth $ 9.2 billion.

The production of Saab's parts for the T-7A will be moved to a new plant in West Lafayette, Indiana, USA after an initial engineering and manufacturing phase.
