The alarm came to the police at 22.37 on Tuesday evening. Something had then exploded in connection with the stairwell at a multi-family house on Vitemöllegatan in Malmö.

Windows have been smashed and there is damage to the facade, according to police. Exactly what has exploded is unclear.

"We have bomb protection techniques on our way," says Rickard Lundqvist, press spokesman for the police.

The police have blocked off a large area in fear of several detonations.

Police, emergency services and ambulance are on site. But no person is injured, according to police. The barriers will remain at least until the bombing techniques of the national bomb shelter are finished with their work.

"As always when we suspect that more people can detonate, we take the distance," says Rickard Lundqvist, press spokesman for the police.
