The idea of a family home started when Susanne Zeeck's daughter Juno suffered from leukemia three years ago. The family spent a lot of time at the hospital in Uppsala and lived in a family home.

- We could be close to her all the time and noticed how much better she felt about having us close, says Susanne Zeeck.

As the Zeeck family helped families with sick children, through the Junos Kamp association, the idea of arranging a family home in Västerås grew.

- Many families live far outside Västerås and the apartment gives families the opportunity to be close to each other and live as everyday as possible, says Susanne Zeeck.

Several families have already heard from them

At present, the renovation of the apartment is in full swing and several people have already heard of it and would need the apartment. Funding for the apartment stands for the non-profit association Junos Kamp, while several local companies have contributed everything from kitchens to furniture.

Borrowing the apartment will be free of charge for families who have severely ill children and who are cared for in the pediatric or neonatal ward.

- We are positively committed to building the next of kin, then we will see who it is that will stay there, says Agneta Holts, Deputy Head of Operations at the Children's Department in Västerås.
