The tension is palpable at the moment in the legal world with the lawyers who have come up against the pension reform project and the abolition of their autonomous regime. Ten days ago, Minister Nicole Belloubet paid the price by being conspired by lawyers from the Court of Cassation. This Monday morning, it was the formal re-entry hearing of the Rennes court that was disrupted.

Everything started from a short sentence dropped by the public prosecutor Philippe Astruc concerning the disturbances which have affected for two weeks the functioning of the judicial court of Rennes, like other courts in France. “It cannot be admitted (…) that the hearing becomes an agora or the field of expression of claims. In a nutshell, there can be no "giletjaunisation" of the audience, "he said.

The baton leaves the furious room

These words promptly prompted the departure from the baton room and the other representatives of the lawyers, supported by the loud applause of the lawyers gathered at the entrance to the courtroom, which covered the rest of the prosecutor's speech. Before the hearing, Rennes lawyers, many of whom wore a RIP sticker on their mouths, had formed a guard of honor on the staircase of the court.

"It is not for pleasure that the actions carried out by the lawyers disorganize the judicial institution", reacted the Bâtonnière Hélène Laudic-Baron. "The term" giletjaunisation "is unacceptable because it is not the meaning of the movement of lawyers, who only do their job with a lot of professional conscience," she added.
