Blitz at the Municipality of Sanremo this morning: investigate 195 as part of a maxi investigation for absenteeism. Of these, 35 are under house arrest, eight have an obligation to sign and 75 have received a notice of conclusion of investigations. Ten officials who will have to answer together with others for various crimes. For them the accusations are, in various capacities, aggravated and continued fraud against the state and false in public deed. Among the crimes contested in various ways, false in public deed, fraud against the State and embezzlement. The investigation concerns the illegal stamping of badges of employees and officials of the Municipality.

A wicked system that has become a habit in the corridors of Palazzo Bellavue. Widespread absenteeism involved 72% of Sanremo's 528 municipal employees. In a video released by the Guardia di Finanza, employees are seen entering, stamping and exiting. One does not even take off his helmet, another enters with the shopping bags and those of the shopping just started. There are those who stamped early in the morning and then went to open the wife's flower stall, those who passed the card to five or six other colleagues. There were even those who regularly rowed during the whole shift, noting also overtime. Among the suspects there is also an urban policeman who is the custodian of the municipal registry office: in the frames you can see the man in his underwear and slippers, hastily stamping the tag and then going back to doing his own business.

To execute the measures issued by the prosecutor were 150 men of the Guardia di Finanza. Eight referrals to the judicial authorities were also confirmed and a series of seizures was carried out. The arrests - all under house arrest - ended an investigation launched about two years ago, after reports from the then mayor, Maurizio Zoccarato.

The investigation, coordinated by the deputy prosecutor of the Republic of Imperia Maria Paola Marrali, revealed a series of tricks that the employees of the Municipality put in place to have a salary increase at the end of the month. The Guardia di Finanza with the help of cameras spied on the employees for months: even four badges stamped by one person in order to collect the overtime.

This morning the town hall was closed to the public and the financiers engaged in the various municipal offices to acquire the necessary documentation. Municipal officials were taken to the Guardia di Finanza barracks for investigation.
