January 20, 2020 The Senate Immunity Council rejected the report by President Maurizio Gasparri giving a substantial favorable opinion to Matteo Salvini's trial for the affair of the Gregoretti ship. As announced, the vote of the five League members of the body against the 'no' to the decisive process, while the majority representatives did not participate in the meeting called "illegitimate". The members of FI and FdI voted in favor of the Gasparri report, and, by regulation of the Senate, the vote against the report passes.

After the Senate Immunity Committee's vote on the Gregoretti case, the Chamber will vote and give the final vote. The date of the vote (scheduled for mid-February) will be decided by the conference of the group leaders of Palazzo Madama. This is what emerged from the Junta meeting.
