A 20-year-old man died in a road accident Saturday morning in Saint-Grégoire, near Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine). He was struck by a car while traveling on a four-lane with three other people on a scooter.

It was around 5:45 am Saturday morning when the fire department received the call. In shock, a motorist explains to them that he has just hit a scooter on the RD137, the four lane connecting Rennes to Saint-Malo. This 34 year old man is in a panic. He told the emergency services that four people were on the two-wheeler when he struck him.

One dead, three seriously injured

Upon arrival, the firefighters discover a 20-year-old man in a state of absolute emergency. Resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful and the young man was declared dead on the spot by the doctor. Aged 15, 17 and 18, the two other passengers on the 50cc scooter and its driver were seriously injured, but their vital prognoses do not seem to be in tune, say the firefighters. All were transported to the hospital. Shocked, the driver of the car is also taken care of.

An investigation was opened to try to determine the circumstances of the accident. And try to understand why the scooter was on this portion of four lanes. And why four people were there. According to France 3, the driver of the car struck them from the rear and did not see the motorized vehicle. Was it lit? The investigation is just starting.
