Medvedev commented on his appointment as deputy chairman of the Security Council

“There is nothing unexpected in this post, except that this post has not existed before. But such ideas actually existed, ”TASS quotes him.

Medvedev stressed that he accepted the proposal of the Russian president to take this post, since he considers this work important and necessary.

He recalled that the Security Council is engaged in a wide range of issues, including ensuring the sovereignty and defense capabilities of the country, protecting human rights, environmental problems, as well as industrial and economic security.

“But I’m not going to hide, probably, the experience that I have gained while working in the government for almost eight years, and before that, heading the Security Council as president, he will probably come in handy,” concluded the deputy head of the Security Council.

Earlier, Medvedev explained the resignation of the Russian government as the need for political renewal of the country and the time factor.

January 15, Medvedev announced the resignation of the Cabinet in full force. The head of the Federal Tax Service Mikhail Mishustin was appointed to the post of Prime Minister of Russia.

State Duma deputy Sergei Boyarsky, in an interview with PolitExpert, noted that Mishustin’s personal qualities will help build constructive interaction between the State Duma and the government.
