Twenty firefighters intervened on Friday evening at the Nantes detention center. In one of the cells, a 33-year-old detainee had just set fire to various objects. The man, seriously burned, was taken care of by the firefighters and transported to the Nantes University Hospital, according to the departmental fire and rescue service. Two prison officers, poisoned by smoke, were also hospitalized. The latter intervened in particular to extinguish the fire before the arrival of the firefighters.

According to Ouest-France , the days of the detainee, injured in the head and hands, are not in danger. The motives of this man, who risks disciplinary action when he is discharged from the hospital, are unknown. An investigation has been opened and findings will be made in the cell on Monday.
