At a meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Putin praised the steps taken by Russia and Turkey to achieve a truce in Libya, which, in his opinion, created the prerequisites for a multilateral meeting in Berlin.

“In my opinion, you and I took a very good step during the meeting in Istanbul, called on the Libyan parties to cease fire, cease hostilities and, despite the fact that certain incidents do take place, nevertheless both sides heeded our appeal and large-scale hostilities are stopped, ”he stressed.

Erdogan, in turn, noted that in order to maintain peace in this country, it is necessary that the commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA) Marshal Khalifa Haftar stop his aggressive policy.

The international conference on Libya will be attended by Haftar and the head of the Libyan National Accord Government, Faiz Sarraj, as well as US Department of State Head Mike Pompeo, representatives from the United Kingdom, France, China, the United Arab Emirates, Congo, Italy, Egypt, Algeria and international organizations.
