"Every year, March 25, the date that scholars recognize as the beginning of the journey into the afterlife of the Divine Comedy - the minister explains - will celebrate Dantedì. A day to remember Dante's genius throughout Italy and in the world with many initiatives which will see a strong involvement of schools, students and cultural institutions ".

"A year after the celebrations of the 700 years since Dante's death - added Franceschini - there are already many projects under consideration by the Celebration Committee chaired by Prof. Carlo Ossola. Dante - concluded Franceschini - remembers many things that hold us together : Dante is the unity of the country, Dante is the Italian language, Dante is the very idea of ​​Italy ". The proposal of the national day dedicated to Dante Alighieri as well as being the subject of several parliamentary acts had collected the adhesion of intellectuals and scholars and prestigious cultural institutions from the Accademia della Crusca, to the Società Dantesca, to the Dante Alighieri Society, to the Association of Italianists at the Italian Society for the study of medieval thought.
