Experts remind that scammers began to install readers - skimmers in the form of an overlay on the card reader, as well as an on-board keyboard that remembers the entered PIN code in order to obtain bank card data.

In this regard, the Center for Digital Expertise of Roskachestvo recommends that Russians use only ATMs inside banks, which, as a rule, are not used by fraudsters, since they are in the field of view of employees of a financial institution.

In addition, you should insert the card into the ATM only if the screen saver of the bank is presented on the screen, and cover the keyboard with your hand when entering the PIN code.

The Roskachestvo also urges Russians to check the ATMs before use for the presence of a lining on the keyboard or card reader using glue or tape, as well as the mobility of the device when touched.

Upon detection of readers, bank employees should be notified and not removed on their own. If the card is already in the ATM, you must contact the bank to block it.

Fraudsters also often deliberately leave a card at an ATM, and then accuse the person who pulled it from the card reader of stealing money from the account. In this case, you must immediately contact the police.

The head of the Center for Digital Expertise of Roskachestvo Anton Kukanov advised the Russians to activate the service of informing about ongoing transactions in SMS messages, as well as to set a maximum threshold for the withdrawal amount, which will avoid the loss of significant funds in case of fraudulent activities.

Earlier, information security expert, forensic scientist Vitaly Vekhov, in an interview with URA.RU, gave recommendations on how to protect yourself from scammers during the holidays.
