Hong Kong-flagged ship Saga Faith left the quay in Stillerydshamnen on Thursday with 65,417 cubic meters of wooden products on board. The young ship launched last year is now beginning its voyage to the United States, which BLT was the first to report.

- The ship was first in Oskarshamn for three days and then we loaded about 50,000 cubic meters of wood here in Karlshamn in one week, says production and labor manager Martin Pedersen at Karlshamn's harbor to SVT News Blekinge.

Record in loading

The cargo is probably the largest of timber ever left by a Swedish port. At the same time, they have set a record in loading so much and that in only seven days in the harbor.

The ship's modern crane system has been crucial to the smooth running of the process.

- So much loading has not happened before, I have been told. The port of Karlshamn has a good development and people are working fantastic.

More giant vessels during the year

Out of the port area, the huge vessel was supported by two tugs. On February 4, Saga Faith is expected to reach the destination across the Atlantic. Already on February 14, the next giant ship is expected to arrive in Karlshamn.

- We expect seven more boats this year, maybe there will be even more, says Martin Pedersen.
