The British Treasury said it had classified the entire Lebanese Hezbollah terrorist organization, under terrorist rules and terrorist financing, and would therefore freeze its assets.

It said in a statement that it added that party to the list of terrorist organizations targeted under the 2010 Assets Freeze Act.

The Financial Sanctions Enforcement Office subjected Hezbollah's military wing to the asset freeze law under government rules.

Terrorist group
The British government announced that Hezbollah was completely banned in the country in February last year, describing it as a "terrorist organization".

It also stated at the time - in an explanation of its decision - that Hezbollah continues to mobilize weapons in violation of the UN Security Council resolutions, while its support for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has prolonged "the conflict and brutal and violent repression by (the regime) of the Syrian people."

Israel and the United States classify Hezbollah as a terrorist organization, but the European Union classifies its military wing only as a terrorist organization.

It is reported that 74 organizations have been banned in Britain under the Anti-Terrorism Act, in addition to 14 groups linked to Northern Ireland.

In 2017, several Arab countries - especially some Gulf states - described Hezbollah as a "terrorist".
