The Austrian Matthias Mayer leads the Wengen World Cup combined Friday after the descent, while Victor Muffat-Jeandet (12th) and Alexis Pinturault (18th) can aim for the podium at the end of the slalom scheduled at 2:30 p.m.

Mayer, pure descender, ahead in 1 min 41 sec 93 / 100th, the Swiss Gilles Roulin (+53/100) and the Austrian Daniel Danklmaier (+67/100), two other downhill specialists who should concede time in the slalom.

The Italian Ricardo Tonetti, 7th at 1 sec 9/100, is now a favorite, he who finished 23rd in the Val d'Isère slalom won in mid-December by Alexis Pinturault.

A slalom specialist and winner of the Wengen combined in 2018, Victor Muffat-Jeandet, 12th, can hope to make up for his delay of 1 sec 33/100.

Like Pinturault, world champion in the specialty and winner of the 1st combined of the season at the end of December in Bormio (Italy) and who conceded 1 sec 68/100.

From 2.30 p.m., the slalom round will be contested in an inverted format, with the best lap times going first.

This new regulation, which came into force this season, is supposed to favor speed specialists, who will ski between the stakes on a less marked track.
