Trump impeachment process begins Tuesday in the Senate

The Senate trial on the impeachment of President Donald Trump will begin next Tuesday. Today at noon, Washington time, led by the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee Adam Schiff, the "impeachment managers", or the team of deputy-prosecutors who will perform the functions of public prosecution during the debate, will formally deliver the articles to the Senate for impeachment: abuse of office and obstruction of Congress. Two hours later the chief judge of the United States Supreme Court, John Roberts, will swear to preside over the Senate trial. House speaker Nancy Pelosi signed the two impeachment articles against Trump only yesterday evening. The chamber had approved the resolution for sending articles with 228 yes and 193 no (all Republicans). It is extremely unlikely that Donald Trump will be sentenced. To condemn the president, two thirds of the votes of the Senate are needed, which however is firmly controlled by the Republicans.
