The castle forest observatory has for many been a first entrance to astronomy and the science of our place in the universe. Interest remains, but arranging the financing has become a struggle for Katja Lindblom, who is an astronomer and also the director of the observatory.

She has often switched between hope and despair, but most despair.

- It's incredibly sad to feel more like a salesman, lobbyist and doing a lot of bureaucratic trams rather than getting to do what I do best and like most, namely astronomy.

A complicated story

According to her, the observatory has fallen between the chairs. The financial problems have been around for several years and four years ago the observatory was canceled with the annual support of SEK 100,000 from the Cultural Committee of the Västra Götaland Region. Just to mention one example.

The Castle Forest Observatory is a complicated story, which means that no one seems to want to take in the economy. The case is balled back and forth.

According to Katja, a solution must be found soon otherwise the risk of bankruptcy is imminent. And hope does not seem to have completely abandoned her anyway.

- I've given myself a damn that this will work sooner or later.
