The European Parliament (PE) on Thursday approved a resolution that reiterates the recognition of Juan Guaidó as interim president of Venezuela and condemns the "coup attempt" on January 5, when Guaidó was prevented from presiding over an assembly session National.

In a resolution supported by 471 deputies, rejected by 101 and with 103 abstentions, the European Parliament "recognizes and supports Juan Guaidó as the legitimate president of the National Assembly and the legitimate president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela."

In addition, he "strongly condemns" the "attempted coup d'etat of Maduro and his allies", as well as his efforts to prevent the National Assembly "from correctly carrying out the constitutional mandate extended by the Venezuelan people."
