The Anatolian Agency's board chairman and general manager, Chenol Kazanji, announced today, Thursday, that one of the agency's four employees arrested in Egypt has been released.

Kazanji confirmed that the Turkish citizen, Helmi Balci, had been released, adding, "We are awaiting the release of our remaining employees on bail."

On Tuesday evening, the Egyptian security forces stormed the Anatolia Agency office in Cairo, arrested four journalists and employees, including a Turkish citizen, and took them to an unknown location.

The detainees included the Egyptian journalist Hussein al-Qabbani, the brother of the detained journalist Hassan al-Qabbani, and the Egyptian journalist Hussein Abbas.

After the accident, Turkey recalled the charge d'affaires of Egypt. The Turkish Foreign Ministry said that it condemns the incursion and what it described as the hostile practices of the Egyptian authorities against the Turkish media, and demanded that the Cairo authorities release the Anadolu workers immediately.
