SVT News Sörmland has previously stated that young people do not dare to report personal robbery, despite the increase in the number of notifications in the county.
In 2019, the police received 77 reports of robberies against persons under 18 in Sörmland, which is almost three times as many as in 2015, when the number of reports was 26.
- We see that more young people are exposed to robbery, and that there is also a large dark figure, a culture of silence, that people are so afraid that they dare not report, said Frida Thörn, district police in Nyköping, SVT in an interview in December 2019 .
According to the Crime Prevention Council, Brå, the number of reports of crimes against children under 18 in the entire country in 2019 was a total of 2480, which is an increase of 31 percent compared to the previous year.
