by Michela Coricelli 16 January 2020 European and American markets move at different speeds. In the Old Continent, there are contrasted closures. With the exception of Milan which marks a strong rise (+ 0.74%) thanks also to the stocks of the exporting companies - which celebrate the agreement between the USA and China - the others are more cautious. London loses 0.43%, Frankfurt 0.02%, while Paris gains 0.11%.

On the contrary, on Wall Street the enthusiasm provoked by the signing of the tariffs agreement (phase one) between the USA and China continues, but also by the record quarterly reports of the big American companies that grind profits at unexpected levels. The Dow Jones is up 0.57% and the Nasdaq up 0.54%.

The spread between the Italian BTP and the German Bund widens to 165 basis points, with the yield of the Italian 10-year period rising to 1.43%. Euro falling: trading at 1.1131 against the dollar.
