On January 15, after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the message to the Federal Assembly, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev announced the resignation of the government.

The President submitted to the State Duma the candidacy of Mishustin for the post of Prime Minister.

State Duma Deputy Speaker Sergei Neverov said that Mishustin announced changes in the new government during a meeting with the United Russia faction.

In an interview with the FAN, Neverov also said that Mishustin was determined to continue the constructive work built by the government of Dmitry Medvedev.
